The best of two coffees combined in our Wienerwald blend of 100% Arabica beans.
"With the sweetness and full body of the Manos de Mujeres from Colombia combined with the spiciness and fresh fruitiness of the Rama from Burundi, a harmonious taste experience is created that makes each cup unique."
A blend that not only impresses with quality but also honors the work of dedicated women's cooperatives on two continents.
Manos de Mujer - Tolima Organic - Washed
This coffee is produced by female members of the Asoagrotol Galilea Cooperative in Prado, Tolima, Colombia. The cooperative was founded in 2016 by neighbors who were displaced from their home countries due to conflict. They obtained their organic certification in 2019 and are also Fairtrade and RFA/UTZ certified. The coffee consists of the varieties Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia and is grown at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,900 meters above sea level. After selective hand harvesting, the cherries are processed on the producers' farms: they are pulped, fermented for 12 to 24 hours, washed, and dried on raised platforms or patios. The "Manos de Mujer" project focuses on female coffee farmers in the cooperative and helps them differentiate their coffees and gain more visibility in the supply chain.
Rama - Women Association Ngozi - Natural
This coffee comes from the Rama Dufatanemunda Women's Association in Ngozi, Burundi. The group was founded by Marie-Annonciate, who mobilized women in her community to gain access to land ownership, which poses a challenge in Burundi due to patriarchal traditions. Although they were unable to secure land ownership rights, they were eventually able to lease land from a community member. With the support of the Kahawatu Foundation and Greenco, the women received training in good agricultural practices and established a financial savings association. The coffee is made from the Red Bourbon variety and is grown at an altitude of about 1,700 meters above sea level. The cherries are hand-picked and processed as Natural, which means they are dried in the sun without removing the pulp.
By combining these two coffees in an 80:20 blend after roasting, we can highlight the unique characteristics of both coffees.
We recommend this blend mainly for fully automatic machines, portafilters, Bialetti, French press, and filter coffee machines. However, those who enjoy strong filter coffees can also use it for Aeropress and V60.
