Abel Salinas manages Finca Arashi, a 7-hectare farm in Saraguro, Loja, at 1,890 MASL. This batch is a separation of his Mejorado, harvested in August 2024. This is the second year we have worked with Abel and once again his coffee is exceptional. The cup offers remarkable clarity and shows a clean expression of one of our favorite varieties. We taste a vibrant palette of flowers and citrus, with notes of peach, lemon, orange and delicate white flowers.

Abel is a first generation coffee producer who planted his first trees in 2016. Today he runs a farm of 22,000 trees where he grows mostly Mejorado, as well as some Sidra and H1 Hybrid. Abel quickly gained recognition for his exceptional quality, and in 2021 he took first place at the COE with his washed Mejorado.

The cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness and rinsed to remove any blemishes before being depulped. The pits are then dry fermented for 24 hours, washed to remove mucilage and dried on raised beds for 15 days.

ilse was founded in 2019 with the goal of showcasing the best coffees in the world and opening people's eyes to what coffee can be. Quality coffee is what originally brought us to specialty coffee, but the people we've met along the way are what keeps us here and, more importantly, inspires and motivates us to grow.
